My client is urgently looking for a communications coordinator to deal with all communications and public relations liaison with Council departments to ensure that the community is informed to Council run programs and services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Act as first point of contact for media and as spokesperson where appropriate
- Provide strategic media advice for the Mayor, Executive team and Council departments
- Prepare and distribute media releases and coordinate photo shoots, as required.
- Prepare Mayoral columns and speeches as requested.
- Develop and implement communication campaigns for Council events and intiatives.
Knowledge, Skill & Experience:
Degree (or similar) qualifications in communications, journalism or marketing
At least five years experience in a similar role.
Understanding of the role of the media in Council\'s community information program.
Experience with dealing with media at all levels.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
