Communications coordinator

My client is urgently looking for a communications coordinator to deal with all communications and public relations liaison with Council departments to ensure that the community is informed to Council run programs and services.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Act as first point of contact for media and as spokesperson where appropriate
  • Provide strategic media advice for the Mayor, Executive team and Council departments
  • Prepare and distribute media releases and coordinate photo shoots, as required.
  • Prepare Mayoral columns and speeches as requested.
  • Develop and implement communication campaigns for Council events and intiatives.

Knowledge, Skill & Experience:

  • Degree (or similar) qualifications in communications, journalism or marketing
  • At least five years experience in a similar role.
  • Understanding of the role of the media in Council\'s community information program.
  • Experience with dealing with media at all levels.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
